Tales From My Front Porch: Parker's Birth Story

On Monday, June 27th, I went to Regency to be induced at 6am. When we got there they said an emergency was going on so they pushed me back to 7am. Matt & I just waited in the lobby playing Sudoku & Crossword puzzles. I wasn`t really nerves, but I think it was because I didn`t really feel like I was going to have a baby that day!

Here is a photo of me just hanging out. I was induced & my water was broke at 8:30am. This was before the pain started! I was at 3 cm when I arrived, which meant I could have gotten a epidural right away BUT I wanted to feel at least one contraction. I mean who goes through labor & doesn`t feel some pain? So once I started feeling some pain, I buzzed for him to come. They were not bad at first, well then the nurse came in & said he was doing a case & then had to give someone else theirs then it was my turn. Well 2 hours later I was in the worse pain of my life! Matt sat next to the bed & held my hand the whole time. I cried, not like out loud, but tears were coming down my face. I just kept thinking, "I`m such a wuss. My mom did this 5 times with out anything!" Finally he came in at 11am, I was having contractions about every 30 seconds. I couldn`t tell you if the epidural hurt because I was in so much pain from the contractions. Well I got it and then they checked me........I was at 9 cm, I didn`t feel like such a wuss then! Praise the Lord they didn`t check me first because they would have not gave me one! So if you mother had you with out an epidural, hug her & tell her she is the best haha Props to the women who do it natural! I will never do it but yall should get a present or something! We then called my mom, she was going to be in the room with us, & his parents to let them know to hurry up!

This is after the epidural, I would have giving all my money for one! After that I would be like, "Oh, I`m having a contraction?" haha it was great! The epidural did slow things down, which was good, because the doctor was delivering 2 other babies before me! They were a full house that day! We started pushing with my nurse first, then she called the doctor in because he was right there. At first they had to tell me when to push, but after 2 sets of 3, I could tell when I needed to. It didn`t hurt at all, I could just feel the pressure when I was having a contraction. I most likely pushed I would say 20 - 30 minutes, the last sets I pushed 4 times each one. They just kept saying he is right there! So I was bound & determined to get him out!

And out he finally came! Parker Bany Brown was born at 2:07pm! My mother took all of the following photos. I`m glad I have these photos because really it feels like a dream when I think back on it. It is a very weird, but good, feeling when they lay them on your chest. Like this is Matt & me, this is our child. I cried, but it was a happy cry. I was so excited he was finally here! I also love looking at Matt's face in all the photos, it makes me love him more.

Up close & personal! He was 21 1/2 inches long & 7 lbs & 13 oz! He was WAY bigger then we thought he was going to be! Matt & his father were both 19 inches & 6 lb 3oz so we assumed he was going to be that. When they said his length I was like WHAT?! haha
